Everything you need to know about Villa Emida and Brač.
The Island Brač
Brač is a stunning Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, known for its crystal-clear waters, lush greenery, and serene ambiance. One of its most famous attractions is the Zlatni Rat beach in Bol, often hailed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This golden, horn-shaped beach extends into the turquoise waters and shifts with the changing tides and winds, creating a unique spectacle, however our nearby beaches are nothing short of amazing, come to beach Planice, see for yourself.
The island is also renowned for its white stone, used in many iconic buildings, including the White House in Washington, D.C. You can visit the quarries and learn about Brač’s rich stonemasonry tradition.
For adventure seekers, Brač offers hiking and biking trails with breathtaking views, especially up Vidova Gora, the highest peak in the Adriatic islands. Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the surrounding islands and the mainland.
History lovers can explore the ancient ruins of Škrip, the oldest settlement on the island, or visit the Dominican Monastery in Bol, which houses a fascinating collection of artifacts and religious art.
Brač is a haven for relaxation, exploration, and cultural immersion, making it a perfect destination for anyone seeking a mix of adventure and tranquility.
The island is well connected to Split, Croatia’s second largest city with its very accessible international airport and an incredibly rich cultural heritage. Though founded by the Greek in the 3rd century BC, it is most famous for the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. In fact, it was one of the largest cities of the late Roman Empire – the buzzing city is still full of living history.
Ferry services from Split take only 30 – 50 minutes to get you onto this gem of the Adriatic, which is one of the most sunny islands in the entire Mediterranean sea. Check the ferry operator Jadrolinja for details of the services.
Planica Beach
Just a short stroll from Villa Emida, our beach—Vela Planica—is a secluded pebble cove framed by lush agave plants and subtropical vegetation, offering an exotic and peaceful escape. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters and tranquil surroundings make it a perfect haven for sunseekers in search of privacy and natural beauty.
Although, like all Croatian beaches, it is technically open to the public, Vela Planica is most easily accessed via private paths shared only by Villa Emida and four neighboring holiday homes—meaning that you’ll often enjoy near-total seclusion.
The exceptionally clear waters are ideal for water sports, with opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding using our available SUPs—offering the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.
Nature
Nature on Brač feels both untamed and welcoming—perfect for explorers, hikers, and anyone in search of Mediterranean serenity. The landscape is a captivating blend of rugged limestone cliffs, fragrant pine forests, and sun-drenched olive groves cascading down to the dazzling Adriatic Sea. Its dramatic coastline alternates between hidden coves and iconic beaches like Zlatni Rat, famed for its shifting horn-shaped spit.
Inland, charming stone villages are nestled among vineyards and fields of wild herbs, offering a peaceful contrast to the vibrant coastal energy.
Off the grid
Villa Emida is tucked away on the tranquil southern side of Brač Island, off the usual tourist paths. A few small holiday homes are close by, but the surroundings are dominated by olive groves, vineyards, and the shimmering sea.
Access to the villa is via a narrow, winding gravel road—an SUV is the most suitable vehicle for the journey. Given the distance to nearby villages and shops, as well as the island’s limited public transport, having a car is highly recommended. Private parking is available right next to the house.
Villa Emida is fully self-sufficient, powered entirely by its own photovoltaic system, with hot water supplied through solar thermal energy. This sustainable setup means that electricity and water usage may be subject to some limitations.
The house offers reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout, though internet speeds can occasionally be modest. Depending on your mobile provider, cellular reception in this part of the island may sometimes be patchy.
These small compromises are more than outweighed by the peace and seclusion of this extraordinary location. The only sounds you’ll hear are those of nature: the hum of cicadas, the gentle rhythm of the sea, and the songs of birds—rarely disturbed by the noise of civilization.
Get ready for astonishingly clear night skies and unforgettable sunsets!

About Us
We felt incredibly fortunate to acquire this seaside gem in 2023 – and were so in love with the place that we made it the location for our wedding. Originally intended as a private retreat for ourselves, our friends, and our families, we soon realized the villa was simply too beautiful not to share. That’s why we decided to open it up as a short-term holiday rental.
While we strive to provide a professional and seamless experience for our guests with the help of our incredible local host Mirjana, Villa Emida will always carry a personal touch—one that reflects the love and care we’ve poured into making it a truly special place.
